Agroforestry Map
This new interactive European Agroforestry Map was developed by the collaboration between EURAF and projects such as Reforest, DigitAF and– specifically for the Flemish context - VLAIO ''Agroforestry 2025''. Within the Interreg project CAMBIUM, we will continue updating the map. Click on the picture below to surf to the map:

This clear map, which shows not only agroforestry plots but also the upstream and downstream sectors, advisors, research institutions and other agroforestry actors, offers many possibilities and advantages:
Stimulating collaboration: collaboration between farmers can be interesting in terms of economies of scale.
- Think of joint implementation of planting or maintenance work, joint purchase of machines or planting material. In addition, farmers can find other links in the chain, such as advisors, contractors and buyers of products.
- Organising the sales market and chain: buyers can see where certain products can be found. At the same time, farmers can locate tree nurseries or other suppliers.
- Education, knowledge exchange and research: ideal for organising an information session or field visit in collaboration with a practical company, and also makes it easier for students or researchers to contact agroforestry users.
- Policy: the evolution, characteristics and distribution of agroforestry in Flanders (and by extension Europe) is relevant for policy actors and can help to concretise specific ambitions and actions (locally) and to measure the impact of specific measures.
The map is provided with useful symbols that facilitate your search. Symbols are linked to (1) a type of agroforestry system or (2) a theme, namely:
Type of agroforestry system
- Silvicultural system (trees and shrubs combined with plant production)
- Silvopastoral system (trees and shrubs combined with animal production)
- Agrosilvopastoral system (trees and shrubs combined with plant and animal production)
- Other systems (incl. ‘home gardens’, food forests, etc.)
Themes
- Up-& Downstream sector, private services, service providers, tree nurseries, etc.;
- Scientific institutes, education, public agencies, etc.;
- Agroforestry companies;
- Interested parties (those who are currently thinking about creating an agroforestry plot).
The users themselves determine which personal information (address, company details, photo, etc.) is displayed on the map. For all data, we as administrators ensure that the user screens changes before they appear online. In doing so, each newly uploaded photo is automatically reduced in size and provided with a watermark to mark the source of the map. The resulting map data is protected, and its management is structured and transparent. We take all measures necessary to comply with data protection legislation.
